Medical Biomagnetism tested on 265 patients at clinic in Spain in May 2009

Centro Médico Hilu ( Hilu Stem Center) and Biomagnetic Pair Therapy:

On May 2009, Dr. Isaac Goiz, who in 1988 discovered the Biomagnetic Pair (BMP) and how to treat many illnesses with the simple use of a pair of magnets, was able to put his method to the test at a clinic directed by Dr. Raymond Hilu in Marbella (Málaga). 265 patients people were treated in just four days. A blood sample was taken from the majority of the patients prior to being diagnosed and treated with the corresponding biomagnetic pairs, and another sample was taken afterwards in order to check if the microorganisms indicated as the cause of their pathologies were present in the blood after the treatment. Here we will present the results.

In Spain the Biomagnetic Pair diagnostic and treatment method known as Medical Biomagnetism discovered by the Mexican doctor Isaac Goiz  has gained more and more recognition at a startling rate. Of course this should not surprise us given the success of the doctors and practitioners that have already begun to use it in their clinics. By no means it’s a miracle treatment that cures all pathologies but in the hands of well-trained professionals it has proven to be a method of unexpected possibilities—especially when the cause is an infection—where the limits are still yet to be discovered.

In fact, for years Dr. Goiz had requested that the effectiveness of his treatment to be tested, willing to undergo any kind of test or trial that his medical colleagues saw fit, a proposal that in our last meeting with him in Madrid, he reiterated: “I simply need—he told us—a clinical center to provide patients with their diagnoses already determined. Twenty, thirty, one hundred…however many. And for them to tell me, for example, these people have tuberculosis. And then we will test them, we will place magnets on them in the corresponding pair for that pathology and we will see how many people are cured. And if only one person is cured? Well, then it is obvious that my theory is not correct. But, if 90% are cured? It’s simple. So then, why won’t my colleagues let me demonstrate this? Silence had always been the answer.” Until now…

The first was Dr. Santiago de la Rosa who in a very pragmatic way proposed studying the microbicidal capacity of magnets on various microorganisms, in vitro! To do this, a series of bacteria and fungus—specifically Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Streptococcus agalactiae, Proteus mirabilis, Haempphylus influenzae and Candida albicans—was cultivated in a specialized laboratory for 24 hours in the appropriate substance (blood agar, chocolate agar, MacConkey agar, and Saboraud cloranfenicol), and upon completion two magnets were placed on top of and below the plaques for another 24 hours in order to observe whether the microbial would continue to grow or stunt growth. The experiment demonstrated that in vitro magnets are not capable of stopping the growth of these pathogenic microorganisms corroborating that they solely act upon the bioelectromagnetism of the complex living organisms themselves because in living organisms the method does work.

The answer therefore must lie outside the test tubes in the complex interactions that occur in the human organism, in the pH of the environment necessary for the proliferation or non-proliferation of microorganisms. Therefore it was necessary to take the next step in the investigation and analyze the behavior of the method in a large group of patients.
And that is what Dr. Raymond Hilu from the institute of the same name decided to do. “Truly—he told us–, I did it because I was incredulous. I had attended the course that was offered a few months ago in Madrid and what Dr. Goiz explained in the course seemed too good to be true. Yes, it’s true, I said to myself, it’s a fantastic discovery and we should make it more known. And if it’s not we need to say so publicly so that no one is given false hope. So I proposed doing a test that required several patients at the same time. I knew that he was going to like the idea because I know he had tried to do it several times before but no one was interested.”

And Dr.Goiz accepted the challenge: to test his method—which finally took place in Hilu’s medical center in Marbella (Málaga) from the 14th to the 17th of  May 2009 —on more than two hundred patients of highly diverse pathologies, in the presence of observing doctors from other countries. Although the statistical results are still being calculated, Hilu is openly speaking of the method’s “absolute success.”

“It is—he confirms emphatically—one of the most effective therapies that I have seen in all my years of practicing medicine. The most surprising part is its simplicity. And its main advantage is that it has no side effects. The only problem it sometimes presents is the diagnosis because Dr.Goiz’s diagnosis was frequently different from what the patient actually had. But this doesn’t bother me because the important thing is that the patient gets better as a result of the treatment. And what I’m concerned with isn’t so much knowing exactly what the patient has but rather seeing that the patient gets better or is fully cured. What matters to me is that the final results are positive and beneficial for the patient.”

Having said this, we inform that the tests done on May 2009 in Marbella will not be accepted as a “trial” by the medical community. But what is certain is that what occurred there cannot nor should be overlooked given that Dr. Hilu attempted to carry out the most objective tests possible. In fact he made sure that the patients that participated were not only his own but from doctors and practitioners from different countries: the United States, England, Germany, France, Sweden, Finland, India, and of course, Spain. And he invited some of his colleagues to attend as observers; this was the case of the Italian doctors Conte and Limontini and the British doctor Mary Staggs. Additionally, he spoke with two independent laboratories to take on the responsibility of analyzing the patients’ blood before being treated by Dr. Goiz, and two colleagues who helped him in this unique experiment for several marathon days—Juan Carlos Albendea and Agueda Iribarren—to confirm the existence of pathogens that were detected with the kinesiologic test and to take a new blood sample fifteen minutes after finalizing the treatment in order to compare it with the first. In the end, this was not possible.

“To me, this is a mystery”, Dr. Hilu told us.  “I don’t understand what happened. First I spoke with an important laboratory in Barcelona whom I asked to be in charge of this matter and they verbally confirmed that they would be happy to collaborate. In fact they asked me to send them in writing the relation of the possible pathogens that they would have to look for in order to prepare the reagents and so, since I had taken Dr. Goiz’s course, I grabbed a list of all the pathogens that are detectable and I sent it to them. It took them a long time to study it. Until finally after several e-mails they told me that, yes, that they would be able to do it. However, as we were nearing the test date I called them to confirm the agreement in writing and to my surprise they responded that each analysis would cost around 2,000 euros and that that was a cost they couldn’t afford. Now, I have requested pathogen analyses from different laboratories on multiple occasions and I know that it doesn’t cost that much. In the end, a few weeks before Dr. Goiz arrived they refused to collaborate in any way. They told me that the ‘philosophy of the laboratory’—the actual expression they used—‘after merging with a multinational French lab, does not permit us to participate in such work.’

Dr.Hilu explained to us that he would try again with a lab in Valencia. And again he was faced with the same answer. First they told him yes and then for various unconvincing reasons no. His final attempt with a smaller lab in Marbella would also fail.

Dr.Hilu then decided to change his strategy and quickly asked the patients who had signed up for the experiment to bring their medical documents that confirmed their diagnoses, later adding another element to be used for comparison: a blood test in his own medical center to verify the results by means of various diagnostic methods: dark field, phase contrast and a coagulation test. In the end his cellular morphologic microscopy system allows the viewer to see images enlarged 60,000 times and see every type of bacteria, fungus, parasite with absolute clarity and identify them. In addition when it was necessary electrocorporograms, electrocardiograms, oximetry tests and ultrasounds were added. The final test was Dr.Goiz’s diagnostic test, magnets placed on specific points of the body and the post test in the same center that would be completed by a follow-up of the patients once they had returned home.

In short, more than two hundred patients visited dr.Raymond Hilu’s clinic. Like Maria, who arrived with a diagnosis of hepatitis. Dr.Hilu sat her down, and with a simple pinch, he extracted a drop of blood and went to analyze it through a microscope. What is extraordinary is that this image could then be viewed on a 40 inch plasma screen installed on the wall; on the screen all who were present could see how the red cells floating in extra cellular fluid appeared to be solid forming columns resembling stacked coins with very limited mobility.
“Circulation problems,” Dr.Hilu indicated. And he continued to observe as the light filters changed. Various shapes appeared which Dr.Hilu identified in each case as fungus or bacteria. And before finishing we saw some rock-like structures that the few cells that still had a good amount of mobility crashed against and moved around. “Micro-clots,” Dr.Hilu diagnosed. Following this he observed the plaque where another drop of blood had coagulated and a rose-shaped figure immediately appeared—which the doctor defined as indicative of cardiac stress—and some grayish lines formed due to the accumulation of toxins that could very well be related to a problem of a liver malfunction.

Then Dr.Goiz would have his turn. With the patient lying down on the bed holding her feet by the heels he began to say the names of the most diverse pathologies waiting for a muscle reaction of the patient’s legs. His final diagnosis confirmed: cirrhosis of the liver and kidney stones.

He placed the magnets on the patient who remained lying down for twelve minutes. Afterwards Dr. Hilu again extracted blood, this time two drops: one to verify if it had coagulated, and the other that went directly to the microscope to be observed.
Before there where “stacks of coins,” after the treatment the cells were well differentiated, perfect in their individuality, moving around. As much as we looked we could not find any traces of bacteria or fungus; the micro-clots were still there in their granite-like appearance. Everything seemed to have improved except for that.
In the coagulated blood the rose-shaped figure indicating cardiac stress had also disappeared. Only the lines of toxin accumulation although smaller were still visible.
Dr. Hilu himself was surprised: “To eliminate bacteria, fungus, clots, and to improve circulation to such a point in normal conditions we would have needed to administer six medications and continue the treatment for several months.”
Without a doubt one of the most innovative aspects of Dr Goiz’s theory is the presence of the virus-fungus and bacteria-parasite in opposite poles as causes of diseases. Therefore it was a great challenge to find out if Dr.Hilu could find traces of these in the patients’ blood through the microscope. And that is just what happened.
“In more than 80% of the cases I still do not have the final statistics”, explained Dr.Hilu. “I found the same parasites in the patients’ blood that Dr.Goiz indicated using the Biomagnetic Pair.”
“Obviously—he said—the majority of the patients that agreed to participate in this study were very sick. And when we examined their blood before Dr. Goiz treated them it was clear that it was the blood of a sick person with very poor circulation, many pathogens, dirty blood with abnormal behavior of the defense system, the neutrofils unused. However, fifteen minutes after being treated we looked at the blood again and saw a totally different story. It looked like someone else’s blood completely. All the sanguine morphologic abnormalities were corrected. In many cases the neutrofils, previously static, were very active. The living microorganisms, previously intra-erythrocytic, had been eliminated. They continued to be active for a few minutes and then died. Additionally, after observing the blood for 15 minutes post-treatment we could see how the cellular oxidation had increased and improved circulation, except the platelets. And in the cases of cirrhosis of the liver, when we analyzed the blood under a microscope after applying the pairs—and, this was truly news to me—we saw something like hepatic scars, many of them floating in the blood as a result of the treatment because there had been nothing more than the magnets. I had seen the phenomenon before and that’s why I know that they are hepatic excretions but I had never seen so many so quickly.”
The only constant that did not change in any of the cases—and that to which Dr.Hilu plans to dedicate further study—was the presence of clots.

And the pH, the central nucleus of Dr.Goiz’s theory? The technology at the Hilu Institute does not use coloring on the blood samples because the samples could become corrupted. Instead they use light dyeing. This is how we could witness directly the different aspects of the blood when we changed the light filters.

“One of these light-emitting tinctions that I use—Dr.Hilu told us—allows me to see the pH level of the blood. There has never been a case of blood with a tendency toward alkalosis which with the large number of patients we’ve treated is yet another indication that we’re talking about the acidic territory as a root of the illness. We’ve seen blood samples with the pH leaning towards acidosis and after being treated by Dr. Goiz the acidosis in these samples disappears completely. Without exception. In all cases. Using just magnets and in only fifteen minutes. Unbelievable. But not more so than the results.”

( It is important to note, that in this study, patients only received one Biomagnetism treatment, even thou most conditions improve after only one session, it usually requires between 3 – 5 sessions while some patients may need more.)

To summarize the presence of microorganisms seems to confirm Dr. Goiz’s arguments but more importantly, the results support the use of the Biomagnetic Pair in a long list of pathologies. The study, the hard data —that include patient follow-up—still has not been concluded, but Dr. Hilu already has several concrete conclusions.

-What are the overall results obtained with more than 200 patients diagnosed and treated? –
There have been very few cases, very specific ones, in which there was no reaction or improvement. There have been no cases of patients getting worse. The cases for which we saw the best results were those patients who came with the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, a diagnosis that Dr. Goiz didn’t agree upon because in his opinion these patients were all suffering from a bacterial infection due to streptococcus and chlamydias. And all of them before our very eyes walked out of the clinic with very obvious improvements in their health. Even some who arrived with totally limited mobility who could barely stand up to lie down on the bed walked out on their own two feet. For me, that was the most striking. The seven or eight cases treated experienced substantial improvements.
How did it go in the cases of those who came to you with diagnoses of cancer? –
We could say the same thing regarding the improvements in general but in the cases of cancer I should make an exception: except for one case that Dr. Goiz confirmed that was real cancer, all the others we saw were “fake cancers,” wrongly diagnosed. They were abscesses, cysts, hematoma, sacks of pus or some other physiological reaction to the presence of microorganisms; bacteria like Enterobacter cloacae or Listeria, for example. Honestly, I suspect that the feeling, the hopeful reaction of the patient when he realizes that he never really had cancer could have something to do with his improvement. Dr. Goiz affirms that after fixing the problem caused by pathogens that cause the symptomatology the patient is cured and the rehabilitation will be progressive.
I ought to say that in the check-ups that we have done first we saw the parasites and after the treatment they had disappeared. We also observed the instant improvement of other indicators. For example in the cases of prostate cancer we saw that after the magnet treatment the PSA marker went down in all cases. In the following days, we asked the patients to have their doctors make new medical reports and send them to us. And according to those that we received—we haven’t officially ended the study because we are waiting for the cancer cases—the improvements are evident.
-And how should we understand the fact that as the results come to light there is already a case of melanoma cured, leukemia cured, prostate cancer cured?
Should we infer that that person went to his doctor and the doctor told him his cancer had disappeared?
-No, it’s not like that. What happens is that those patients who go back to their doctors, they asked them to do new studies and tests and seeing the new results the doctors tell them that they never had cancer, that it was a false diagnosis. Let’s take the prostate cancer case. The size of the prostate, visually, is large and its PSA went off. Well, after being treated with magnets the PSA has equalized and on the ultrasound it appears to be its regular size. Anyone would say that it’s clearly the case of a tumor shrinking, right? Well, the doctor of this patient prefers to say that it was a mistake in the diagnosis. So, now you know, with the magnets we don’t cure cancer, we just find false diagnoses. No further comments.
-And in any of the cases did you find the leprosy microbe, which, according to Dr. Goiz, is the cause of the only authentic cases of cancer? –
Real cancer we only found in one patient. It was a stage IV case in which Dr. Goiz pointed out the presence of the leprosy microbe and chlamydias. In this case, yes, I was able to confirm the existence of the leprosy microbe. I agreed with Dr. Goiz on the location of the microorganisms which are responsible for the pathologies that later are diagnosed as cancer.
-Have the results been positive in all cases?
There was  a complicated case of very acute testicular pain from an infection caused by hair removal on the testicles and in spite of the treatment the pain continued. In the rest of the cases, in all of them and for all of the pathologies treated we saw either improvements or cures. Raymond Hilu was jubilant. We are going to wait until the end of the study for the official data. But we can say that Dr. Hilu has proven to be very courageous. To carry out a process like this was not easy and, in addition, he ran the risk of having his more conventional colleagues criticize him. In fact, the majority of them preferred to ignore such a unique and enriching experience but we are sure that many people’s eyes were opened and that they will decide to expand the use of this simple, efficient therapeutic tool, with no side effects. Just as many other colleagues have already done. Having said this we ought to express our conviction that the final results depend on the skill of the doctor or therapist who is practicing the technique and on the development of the disease, because each person is a different world.

When Bacteria Become Drug-resistant

This is one more reason why Biomagnetism Therapy is a great complementary instrument to any treatment because pathogens cannot develop a resistance to the influence of the magnetic fields.

Below talk was presented at an official TED conference, and was featured by the TED’s editors on the home page.

Penicillin changed everything. Infections that had previously killed were suddenly quickly curable. Yet as Maryn McKenna shares in this sobering talk, we’ve squandered the advantages afforded us by that and later antibiotics. Drug-resistant bacteria mean we’re entering a post-antibiotic world — and it won’t be pretty. There are, however, things we can do … if we start right now.

Natural Room Purifyer

The ancient practice of burning powerful herbal material may be much much more than just a primitive belief. Recent research has revealed that burning certain plant matter actually clears harmful bacteria.

One of the studies found that burning a mixture of odoriferous and medicinal herbs reduced the aerial bacterial population by 94%.

“This study represents a comprehensive analysis and scientific validation of our ancient knowledge about the effect of ethnopharmacological aspects of natural products’ smoke for therapy and health care on airborne bacterial composition and dynamics, using the Biolog microplate panels and Microlog database. We have observed that 1h treatment of medicinal smoke emanated by burning wood and a mixture of odoriferous and medicinal herbs (havan sámagri=material used in oblation to fire all over India), on aerial bacterial population caused over 94% reduction of bacterial counts by 60 min and the ability of the smoke to purify or disinfect the air and to make the environment cleaner was maintained up to 24h in the closed room. Absence of pathogenic bacteria Corynebacterium urealyticum, Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens, Enterobacter aerogenes (Klebsiella mobilis), Kocuria rosea, Pseudomonas syringae pv. persicae, Staphylococcus lentus, and Xanthomonas campestris pv. tardicrescens in the open room even after 30 days is indicative of the bactericidal potential of the medicinal smoke treatment. We have demonstrated that using medicinal smoke it is possible to completely eliminate diverse plant and human pathogenic bacteria of the air within confined space.”

2018 Dirty Dozen Fruits and Vegetables

Food is Medicine. Eating organic is crucial on the way to recovery from an illness. The body is already working hard to heal itself and any support to keep toxins and pesticides far away will only help.

Unfortunately it can be financially demanding to buy everything organic. Here is more info on the “Dirty Dozen” with the highest toxicity levels which should be avoided or being bought organic and on the “Clean Fifteen” with the lowest toxicity levels:

Article by EWG

For the 2018 Dirty Dozen list, EWG singled out produce with the highest loads of pesticide residues. This year the list includes, in descending order, strawberriesspinach, nectarines, apples, grapes, peaches, cherries, pears, tomatoes, celery, potatoes and sweet bell peppers.

Each of these foods tested positive for a number of different pesticide residues and contained higher concentrations of pesticides than other produce.

Key findings:

  • More than 98 percent of samples of strawberries, spinach, peaches, nectarines, cherries and apples tested positive for residue of at least one pesticide.
  • A single sample of strawberries showed 20 different pesticides.
  • Spinach samples had, on average, 1.8 times as much pesticide residue by weight than any other crop.

EWG’s Clean Fifteen list of produce least likely to contain pesticide residues included avocados, sweet corn, pineapples, cabbages, onions, frozen sweet peas, papayas, asparagus, mangoes, eggplants, honeydews, kiwis, cantaloupes, cauliflower and broccoli. Relatively few pesticides were detected on these foods, and tests found low total concentrations of pesticide residues.

Key findings:

  • Avocados and sweet corn were the cleanest. Less than 1 percent of samples showed any detectable pesticides.
  • More than 80 percent of pineapples, papayas, asparagus, onions and cabbages had no pesticide residues.
  • No single fruit sample from the Clean Fifteen tested positive for more than four pesticides.
  • Multiple pesticide residues are extremely rare on Clean Fifteen vegetables. Only 5 percent of Clean Fifteen vegetable samples had two or more pesticides.

See the full list of fruits and vegetables with pesticide residue data.

Most processed foods typically contain one or more ingredients derived from genetically engineered crops, such as corn syrup and corn oil made from predominantly GMO starchy field corn. Yet GMO foods are not often found in the fresh produce section of American supermarkets. According to the USDA, a small percentage of zucchini, yellow squash and sweet corn is genetically modified.2 Most Hawaiian papaya is GMO.

Because federal law does not require labeling of genetically engineered produce, EWG advises people who want to avoid GMO crops to purchase organically grown sweet corn, papayas, zucchini and yellow squash. For processed foods, look for items that are certified organic or bear the Non-GMO Project Verified label. EWG recommends that consumers check EWG’s Shopper’s Guide to Avoiding GMO FoodFood Scores database and EWG’s Healthy Living app, which can help identify foods likely to contain genetically engineered ingredients. GMO labeling is important because agribusinesses are currently testing other varieties of GMO crops, which the USDA may approve in the future.

Black Seed (Cumin) Oil – Miracle Cure, Natural Tick Repellent? The Pros and Cons

Black Seed Oil has many benefits. The most significant:

  1. Fighting Bacterial Infections
  2. Relieving Allergies
  3. Relieving Breast Pain
  4. Reducing Rheumatoid Arthritis Symptoms
  5. Relieving Indigestion and Heartburn
  6. Improving Memory
  7. Lowering Cholesterol

A newer discovery is its properties of a natural tick repellent.

While people have reported an immediate positive effect specially with chronic Lyme disease others have experienced serious lash-backs after several weeks of consuming black seed oil. Explanations vary from herxe (detox) reactions to increased parasitic response to the breaking up of bio-films which result in a release of hidden pathogens into the blood-streams.

There is also another aspect which has to be considered – that essential oils have to be broken up by the liver and therefore should only be taken in really small quantities.

In the past years I have worked extensively with people suffering from chronic Lyme Disease. What I found was that everyone showed symptoms of a completely exhausted liver. This has various reasons. For one, mostly everyone had been taken medication for many years which of course takes a toll on the liver. But even without medication the liver is overloaded with toxins we are exposed to in our daily life.

Our today’s livers have to work non-stop on removing toxins from our body next to the day-to-day functions such as bile production and excretion, excretion of bilirubin, cholesterol, hormones and drugs, metabolism of fats, proteins and carbohydrates, enzyme activation, storage of glycogen, vitamins and minerals and synthesis of plasma proteins such as albumin and clotting factors.

So while essential oils for sure have a lot of benefits we should take them in with caution, specially in regard to the liver and I highly recommend to always ask your physician first.

I found a very comprehensive article about black seed oil – the Pros and Cons (wile the article focuses later on more on pets it gives a general overview about studies and their conclusions about black seed oil)

Article by BARF Blog

(translated from German into English)

About two years ago, black seed oil was suddenly in the focus of dog and cat people: a then 18-year-old student had participated in an experiment at “Jugend forscht”, by which he came to the conclusion that black seed oil is probably deterrent to ticks. He was placed third in the competition.

The reason for his experiments was the observation that his own dog was less afflicted by ticks since black seed oil was mixed into the food because of an allergy.

Black seed oil was until then actually known rather for modulating and strengthening the immune system, for example in allergies. Or to help with respiratory diseases.

When the first press releases 2 years ago suggested a miracle cure for ticks by this youth research article, it must have been about early summer / summer,  I do not know exactly. In any case tick-high season.
In the following weeks, therefore, an unprecedented run on the black seed seed oil started in our shop, which until then had been in demand in small quantities.
At the end of the summer, there was even the first longer-term shortage of the oil, because obviously all the world suddenly used black seed oil in exorbitant quantities externally and internally.

At some point, however, came the first concerns and there were more and more suggestions that black seed oil is toxic to the liver and should not be used at all.

This repeats itself every year as soon as the tick season begins: the pros and cons of black seed oil.

More harm than good?

Well, let’s take a closer look.

The problem is that there is little scientific insight on black cumin. Commission E did not research black cumin, nor did the current EU organization HMPC (Herbal Medical Product Committee).

But what about research and studies on black seed oil? Good. Really. There is a significant amount of them.

For example:

  • whether the alkaloids contained in the black cumin are antibacterial
(which was confirmed to be more significant in Gram-positive bacteria than Gram-negative and dependent on the concentration of alkaloids) (1)
  • to what extent an aqueous black cumin extract can protect against liver damage caused by tetrachloromethane, a highly liver-damaging and carcinogenic substance
(Liver-protective properties were confirmed in this case) (2)
  • the extent to which different extracts of black cumin at different doses may be liver damaging / toxic or lethal (only in one variant at high doses degenerative damage to liver cells, no mortality) (3)
  • whether black cumin extracts can have a kidney protective, antioxidant effect (this has been answered in the affirmative) (4)
  • whether ingredients of the black cumin can affect allergic asthma / hay fever
(there have been a number of studies on this subject, with different focuses and different experimental arrangements, all of which showed that the ingredients of black seed oil have anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce allergic reactions) (5)

Black cumin (oil) and its ingredients are the subject of many studies. Above all, the anti-inflammatory effect was repeatedly examined and confirmed in different questions. (e.g., 6)

Now comes the big BUT:

Most of the black cumin / black seed oil studies have been done either in vitro or in animals or mice. To what extent the results are transferable to dogs and cats is always such a thing. It does not work that way in most cases.

Often, the studies have been conducted only for a fairly short period of time.

With regard to allergic events and anti-inflammatory processes, there are also studies that relate to humans.

But in terms of dogs, proven research results are really manageable, to say the least.

In addition, in many studies only isolated ingredients were tested, but not the effects of the interaction of the various plant substances contained which means that the results may not simply be transferred one to one to the use of black seed oil.

So what do you do in such cases?

We have to rely on common sense.

Let’s take a look at what we know beyond doubt about black seed oil.

In any case, the high proportion of essential oils is guaranteed. This can be recognized very clearly even without any special knowledge because black seed oil has this unmistakable, slightly pungent odor. And the smell is also quite persistent – who accidentally spilled  black seed oil on himself knows what I mean.

The moment we realize that an oil or plant obviously contains quite a few essential oils it should “click” right away in the back of the head for two reasons:

  1. essential oils have to be broken down via the liver
  2. which as a result means that essential oils should always be taken in small quantity

Knowing this is the essential point when using black seed oil.

Another point is that with all the data at hand regarding black seed oil there is no such thing as a 100% guaranteed dosage information.

But that’s a problem that is pretty familiar to anyone who feeds raw: whether herbs, trace elements or vitamins, you sometimes have to live with not everything being researched as well as you would like or that Information on dosages may differ from each other.

When not to use black seed oil?

In cats. Because cats and essential oils is basically never a particularly good combination.
Again, the lack of glucuronidation of the cat is the cause. Normally the contained terpenes and phenols in an essential oil are bound to glucuronic acid in the liver to be expelled from the body.

This is the case for example with dogs or with us humans.

In cats, this degradation option works very slowly. This is because they lack a specific enzyme that helps in glucuronidation to convert fat-soluble molecules into water-soluble metabolic end products. (Yes, yes, cats and their missing enzymes – an inexhaustible topic.)

In short: for cats no essential oils for external use and no other oils which have a high proportion of essential oils in the feed. Point.

Liver Disease

In certain cases black seed oil should not be used for dogs, either i.e. if there is a liver diseases or if painkillers have to be taken regularly because the liver has already enough to do with the break down of the drugs.

In other words: If the liver is already working beyond the ‘normal’ levels there should be no intake of black seed oil.

Oils or supplements with high levels of essential oils should not be given to pregnant females as they can promote an abortion.

Should you use black seed oil at all?

Where black seed oil is used traditionally hymns of praise have been sung on it and in the Eastern world where black cumin is primarily grown it is one of the home remedies (for humans). And that is with good reasons.

Why black seed oil is really very well suited as dropwise (!) supplement:

in allergies and skin / coat problems. In this case, you do not use it daily, but on average about 2-3 times a week.

Also, black seed oil has a slightly anti-worm effect, but you would always work here with very small amounts and also here the daily dose is neither necessary nor recommended.

For these two applications, black seed oil from my personal experience can be used with very good results considering these points:

do not administer daily
use only in small quantities
Never use for cats, pregnant she-dogs or liver impairment
And: Of course, always high-quality, controlled oils should be used, preferably with guaranteed proof of origin, preferably in organic quality.

The quantity makes the poison.

What applies to so many other things also applies to black seed oil. If high amounts are used daily for the prevention of ticks black seed oil causes more harm than good in the medium or long term.

Clearly the idea is incredibly tempting to finally have found a natural, effective remedy for ticks.

Quasi the easy way out of the dilemma of considering whether to use chemical preparations with all their side effects or the risk of transmission of diseases by ticks. Especially if in dogs other natural means of tick prophylaxis do not show the desired success.

But: But black seed oil is unfortunately not an alternative because it would have to be used daily in quite large quantities. And then again the risk of harm outweighs the benefits.

Nor is black seed oil an oil that should be used daily as an additive in BARF.

But to generally demonize black seed oil or to take it too critically to use it means disregarding the positive qualities. Which would be as nonsensical as to praise it uncritically.

For applications such as allergies, the anti-inflammatory properties of black seed oil can be of great service.

It is clear that you always have to decide on a case-by-case basis whether the feed is useful and in what quantities. If in doubt, you should consult a knowledgeable THP.
